Teaching older women and non-binary folk, how to play garage rock, form a band, and gig!

Melbourne/Naarm, Australia

What is Feminal Music?

Feminal Music gives older women and non-binary folk the chance to learn an instrument, form a band, and gig!

Our series of workshops provide the chance to learn the basics of guitar, bass, drums, vocals or keyboards, in a fun and supportive environment.

The workshops are for total beginners and those with some level of experience who’d like to get back into it.

While we welcome all-ages, we are particularly reaching out to women and non-binary people in their 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, and beyond, who may have missed out on the chance to play music and join a band in their younger years.

How can you participate in the workshops?

We’ll be calling for workshop registrations soon. Be sure to follow us on Instagram and Facebook, or email Shannon at feminalmusic@gmail.com to join our mailing list, so you don’t miss the announcement.

Call for Musicians

We will shortly be looking for female and non-binary musicians to teach some older beginners at our series of workshops. Please email Shannon at feminalmusic@gmail.com if you can help, and/or please share our project with anyone who you think may be interested.

How else can you help?

We’re open to hearing from anyone who wants to support the Feminal Music movement by way of expertise and experience, a venue or rehearsal studio, loans or donations of instruments and equipment, publicity and promotion, or anything at all that you think may help. Please email Shannon at feminalmusic@gmail.com to put your hand up.
